About Me

My photo
Our adventures started in amazing Alaska, but have since taken us to beautiful Spokane Valley, Washington. Our family consists of Nick (Dad), Becki (Mom), and our four boys: Alvin, Alex, Rilie, and Jackson. I enjoy homeschooling our kids and we're excited for what adventures Spokane has for us.

Summer Recap

This summer was full of fun. We had swim lesson, park days, went on walks, started piano lessons, went to a reunion in Oregon, and started canning season. This fall will be full of even more fun things.

Great Grandpa Welsh gave Alex an OLD children's cook book. He has enjoyed making several yummy meals for himself & his family.

Rilie started swim lessons. He is really good. He did 4 levels this summer and got special permission to go into the +6 year old class. He is almost six, but I was still super proud.

Jackson was a trooper! No swim lessons. It bummed him out.
He's looking forward to next summer when he can have swim lessons.

Pioneer day! One of Alvin's friends helped Rilie pan for "gold"

Many members share their horses, and our children appreciate it!

Road Trip to Oregon

Palousa Falls
The water was VERY low,
you can't even see the teeny-tiny people down there.

My boys!

Beautiful flowers amidst the DEAD eastern Washington terrain.
I have come to learn that summers are usually ugly, but
sprinkled with bits of beauty.

We discovered burrows. There were critters
scampering everywhere.

Okay, so not that ugly... just different.

Stone Hedge replica. It's built to scale, but before they learned about
the important positioning with the equinox.

I really loved the lush town below this dry place.

The kids were convinced they found gold.

Coolest slide ever!

I don't know how Nick talked me into that.

Happy Canners

Rilie loves using tools.

Jackson is adorable.

Fruits of our labors. We canned 20 qts of peaches; 24 qts of pears;
+20 qts of pickles; and 5 qts of applesauce. We'll be doing grape juice soon.

They're growing up!

Even if they don't act like it :)

We're starting our nature study.

Lots of days at the park are slowing down.

Rilie loves taking pictures.

We made robots.

This is his tablet.

The kids were fascinated with this slug for a long time.

Camping

We went camping twice this summer.
Nick and I are proud of that!

It was rainy, so we didn't stay as long, but it was still really fun.
We want to come back to this camp group.

I convinced Rilie we were in the Univa Region.

Rilie is very interested in Big Foot.
He was pretending to be one.

Rilie took a good picture.

Applesauce

It was divine.

We wish we had more than 5 quarts.

Soup season is here!

Jackson made M&M cookies for family home evening.
He was very proud.

Alvin & Alex are learning how to hand wash dishes.

Alvin loves making applesauce.

Jackson and his cookies...
I'm too tired to put these in order.
