About Me

My photo
Our adventures started in amazing Alaska, but have since taken us to beautiful Spokane Valley, Washington. Our family consists of Nick (Dad), Becki (Mom), and our four boys: Alvin, Alex, Rilie, and Jackson. I enjoy homeschooling our kids and we're excited for what adventures Spokane has for us.

Merry Christmas to all...

Merry Christmas!

This is the first year, we bought a real Christmas tree! We cut it down ourselves!
You can see how proud the boys are!

Even without the snow, it was chilly enough to put on snow clothes.
Alex is helping Jackson swing.

The snow did eventually come!!

We have a sledding hill in the front yard.

Preschool Christmas Program!

Rilie's preschool had a Christmas program this year. It was adorable!
I was proud of the teachers for managing 30 - 40 preschoolers with such grace.
The paper ornament in the middle is Rilie's.

Doesn't he look cute!

The kids sang for 15 minutes! Hopefully, I can post the songs. Rilie happily sang with them. He also shook his bell the entire time. It was super cute.

I'm not always able to take Jackson out with his brothers, so we brought the snow inside!

Rilie got cold and joined him.

Christmas Lights in Coeur D'Alene

We enjoyed walking the boardwalk decorated in animated Christmas lights. It was quite the "adventure". It's a boardwalk... so it's over water. There was only a rail on one side, and calling it a rail doesn't really mean it holds any safety features, but technically it is a rail... No one fell in the water though!

Inside the hotel was two difference caroling groups. They sounded amazing!

These are the largest coy fish I've seen in my entire life.

Daddy enjoying a break.

We got desserts in the restaurant.
Some friends of ours were sat right next to us and helped us take a family picture.

I should have took a picture before we started eating... this was originally 6 taller than the cup!

In Anderson tradition, we took a bite and slid to the right.

This cup is bigger than Rilie's face! We were told the desserts were big,
but you never know what big means to one person. So, we ordered 3.
Next time, we'll only order 2!

We ate as much as we could.

Other fun things...

Rilie is pretending to be Captain Hook.

Cub Scouts: Alvin & Alex have been working on their Cub books this holiday. Alvin is two activities away from earning his bear badge.

One of his requirements was to learn about an animal in his area and make a poster about it. He chose to learn about the bald eagle. We read three books, watched a documentary (it still surprises me how much my kids LOVE documentaries), and learned how to draw one. He was especially intrigued with how big their nests were (10 ft wide and 2 ft deep). He kept measuring out 10 feet and admiring the size.

Alvin also enjoys taking pictures of the evening sky.

While in UT, Aunt Sam made gingerbread houses from scratch with the kids.
She even made hard candy windows.

L-R: Alvin, Alex, Rilie, (I can't remember which was Julian's or Tennyson's),
the last one is Alanna's.

Jackson munching on snacks.

Thanksgiving with Sam & John David
We loved our trip to UT. It was so much fun to have the cousins together and spend time with family.

Sam and John David have this fun little table. Well of course, all the kids wanted to sit at it. We had 6-7 children sitting around this tiny table, with only 4 adults sitting at actual dinning table. It was pretty funny!

Beautiful Emmaline!

Aunt Sam started making turtle pillows with Alvin & Alex.
They really enjoyed doing this with her.

Setting up the children for their cousin picture.

For the drive back, we enjoyed some pretty sites.
It was my first time driving from Provo to MT in the day light.

Jackson handled the drive back much better. Although, I can't say his binky survived it well. What do they call that? Boredom chewing?

We had a lazy day the next day!

Learning How to Read

Rilie and Jackson are learning how to read!
I found a free program online that is very engaging.
Rilie's my focus for it, but Jackson enjoys it too.
They are both doing great!
